The safety and well being of our students and staff at Bayswater Summer is at the heart of what we do. As a provider of British Council accredited English courses in the UK, we follow strict guidelines to ensure that our students experience their lessons, activities and excursions in a safe and supervised environment.

The well-being, safety and welfare of young people who study with us is is vital to ensure they have a great experience. We adopt clear policies for the welfare of all students, and these standards apply to all staff and Host Families who we employ.

Child safeguarding forms an integral part of staff training. All of our staff, including the London Head Office Senior Management Team, Teachers, Activity Leaders and Host Families undertake DBS criminal background checks (or similar police checks if they come or have travelled from outside the UK) prior to employment. In addition to this, everybody who is interviewed follows our Safer Recruitment Policy. Host Families also undergo DBS checks and have their homes inspected by our local agents to ensure their home adheres to our criteria to host students.

Our highly motivated Senior Management Team have experience in the delivery of educational tours for young people from across the world, and our dedicated Safeguarding team make sure all welfare policies are followed through.

To ensure that students are safe at all times, we have put the following measures into place:

  • All lessons, activities and excursions are compulsory. Teachers take attendance and suitable site-specific arrangements are made with regard to following up student absences.

  • We ensure suitable age and location dependant arrangements are made for the supervision and safety of students during lessons, activities and trips as well as outside these times. These procedures are watched carefully.

  • Everybody is made aware of the Bayswater Summer safeguarding policy. Information is available prior to enrolment and guidance is provided during recruitment and training and through ongoing support from the Bayswater Summer Head Office team.

  • There is a designated Student Welfare Officer at each centre, whose primary role is to ensure the students are safe and feel supported.

  • The Bayswater Summer Safeguarding Policy is regularly reviewed.

  • All of our university campuses are carefully selected for their safety and security, with 24 hour on-site personnel there for our students.

  • All of our homestays are carefully selected for their safety and security. Host families are interviewed and their homes are carefully checked, including making risk assessments for transport links if applicable.

  • 24 hour welfare support is available and students are issued with ID cards with 24 hour emergency contact information.

  • First aid facilities and appropriately trained members of staff are available at all times in all our centres.

  • Students who do not book via Language Tour Operators are allocated a Bayswater Summer staff member to act as their guardian during their stay.
