Bayswater Summer has been offering young, international students, summer camp experiences in the UK for over 50 years.


A long journey to success

STS Education, a Swedish education company, started arranging group tours to the UK for Swedish youths in 1958. It expanded rapidly to become a leading operator of English language summer camps to students from across Europe.

In 1999 STS acquired Language Study Centres a specialist in residential summer camps in the UK.

Bayswater Education acquired Language Study Centres from STS Education in 2020 and rebranded to Bayswater Summer, merging with its existing summer camp portfolio in the UK and Cyprus.

Bayswater Summer is British Council accredited and hosts over 5000 students per year from over 40 countries.

  • Jamie Tyler

    Jamie has 9 years’ experience in the sector specialising in developing and delivering junior and group programmes across the UK.

    Jamie has also previously worked in the charity sector and is excited to work for a company which offers opportunities to those less fortunate within its one for one model and has a charitable purpose at its core.

  • Callum Palmer

    Callum has over 10 years’ experience in the sector, originally working within the activity team at year round and summer centres with Bell in Cambridge, he progressed to programmes management and naturally moved into business development, most recently spending 3 years at Bayswater Summer, working with key partners across the Latin American and European markets.   


  • Alex Brown

    Alex is responsible for all the planning and smooth running of the summer centres. From working with the universities and colleges to recruitment of centre staff and ensuring that all the programmes run as planned so students have that life changing experience.

    Alex has over 12 years’ experience in the sector which all started in 2008 when he and his wife opened their own language school teaching English in  Brazil. Since 2014 Alex has been in the UK managing teams that are responsible for the production of Summer Camps across the UK from Brighton to Edinburgh.

    Alex's first priority is always the safety and welfare of the students and staff that visit us and is passionate that students have a fantastic experience whilst in the UK.


  • Nicole Poukis

    Nicole has over 7 years' experience in the sector starting out as a teacher and then moving into operational management, using skills from her previous roles in other industries.

    Nicole uses her wide experience in Operational Management to make sure our Cyprus camp runs smoothly, giving everyone a great experience from booking to graduation.

  • Michael Duncan

    Living abroad and teaching had always been an aspiration for Mike, so soon after finishing University he studied to become a qualified English Language teacher. A few months later he found himself packing his bags for his first teaching job in Siberia, Russia. The next few years found Mike travelling the world teaching in Mexico, Italy and most importantly, a number of Summer Schools across the UK.

    The vibrant buzz of UK Summer Schools is always the environment Mike enjoyed working in the most, so upon returning to the UK in 2016 he joined the Bayswater team in London. Initially working solely on recruiting teachers, his role has expanded to include looking after the academic programme and overseeing all summer recruitment.

  • Curtis James

    After working with Bayswater Summer since 2013, Curtis has gained vast experience and knowledge in the sector. Curtis has thrived in a variety of different roles within the company and has progressed from starting out as an activity leader, to currently working in the head office’ Curtis now deals with operations and social recruitment of all centre staff in our centres.

    Curtis’s first priority is making sure that students safety and welfare is put first as well as ensuring all our centre staff have a wide understanding of how a centre should run from day to day.

  • Stephan Roussounis

    Stephan has over 15 years experience in the sector, initially starting out as a English language teacher in Ecuador and Argentina, he moved on to marketing and then sales and business development roles for Malvern House, a pioneering low-cost high-volume operator in central London.

    He then moved to Cambridge Education Group, to develop a network of adult language schools under the Stafford House brand. Starting with one school in Canterbury in 2010 the business was grown organically and via 3 acquisitions to 10 schools, in 3 countries (UK, USA and Canada).

    Stephan also launched Cyprus as an English language destination in 2007, and currently is a co-director in English in Cyprus, the leading language school in Cyprus.
